Today’s devotion focuses on how God’s people can depend on Him. He is faithful and will never leave nor forsake us. His Word is true. We can rely upon Him in times of trouble for He is always there, never slumbering nor sleeping. When you can call Him at any hour of day or night, He is there. We may call family in our times of need, but regardless of their desire to help, they may be unable to help. Others we call might be able, but may not come to our aid. Praise God today, for He is dependable. Philippians 1:6 is our scripture reference today.

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

In this deep and moving passage, Paul the humble servant of the Lord gives God praise and thanks for His brothers and sisters who have supported him. He shares that the God who began a good work in them is able to finish the good work until the day He returns. The people have a special place in Paul’s heart. Paul knows of God’s dependability and that the same God, who has blessed him, will bless them. He reminds them that all their needs will be met as they help others because of God’s faithfulness. He wants them to grow in knowledge and love and to continually trust and rely on God. Paul shares his personal testimony. When you get a chance read this entire chapter and see for yourself how Paul expresses gratitude to God and to his fellow believers for their faithfulness.
