Our worship for God must be authentic. We cannot play at worship. Worship must flow from our heart, soul and mind: our innermost being. Today’s devotion, John 4:24, focuses on worshipping God in spirit and in truth.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

John makes it clear that worship is far more than symbols. There can be no distractions of the mind or catching hold of the eyes. Worship is having an intimate relationship with God. God’s initiative is at work in worship. You cannot simply go through the motions, but be able to sense His divine presence and know that you are worshiping a holy and righteous God. John states that God is a Spirit. The central fact is that we are not seeking God but He is seeking us for He wants to bless us. I pray that every time you worship Him, you worship Him in spirit and in truth, and that He is the center of your worship. Take advantage of every opportunity to worship such that God may get the glory.
