It is my belief that many of us work for praise of people rather than for God. When we work for God, we don’t need constant praise we do it willingly. We are not concerned about whether somebody calls our name, or whether we are recognized. The focus should be on who we are working for. I have mentioned on several occasions that I have these words in my office: “Work hard. Stay humble. Be kind.” These are the attributes one must have when working for God. People will disappoint us, and sometimes hurt us.  But when we work for God, we don’t have those concerns. In Colossians 3:23, we find these words:

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

The writer makes clear that we should work willingly for the Lord, ensuring that it’s done for the glory of the Lord. Let us take time today to let God know that we are grateful and thankful for all He has done, and all that He continues to do in our lives. Then let us make sure that whatever we do, we work hard, and do it willingly, keeping in mind who we are working for.
