WISDOM FOR LIVNG
The Almighty God grants us wisdom. His wisdom allows us to live each day with confidence. There is a vast difference between “wisdom” and “education.” One can be highly educated but lack wisdom. Please don’t misunderstand me, we need as much education as humanly possible. But unless wisdom is applied, the information that we learned will have little or no meaning. We must understand how to apply what we learn each day to our lives. The way to do that is by asking God for the wisdom that He gives to us so generously. I often refer to my grandmother, who had very little education, but a great deal of wisdom. She shared that wisdom with me, and I have benefited from her teachings. I have also discovered the power of God’s word. In Proverbs 15:7, we find these words:
“The lips of the wise give good advice; the heart of a fool has none to give.”
Throughout this chapter the writer speaks about the blessings of wisdom. He is also clear about the need to follow God’s ways, saying in verse 10, “Whoever abandons the right path will be severely disciplined.” When you get a chance read, not only this chapter, but the entire book of Proverbs — there is much knowledge to gain from these words. Let me add: we should not just read these words, but we should apply them to our lives. That way we will have wisdom for living.
