While He Prayed
It is amazing what happens when the people of God pray! God hears and responds to every prayer offered in His name. In the early morning Church Without Walls service, I spoke from my heart about the power of prayer, I requested people to pray, particularly when someone asks for prayer. When someone asks you to pray for them, do not take it lightly. Do not simply say, “I will.” If there is an opportunity at that very moment, pray for them. But let me caution you; don’t pray to be seen or heard. If there is a quiet, sacred place, take their hand and pray. In Luke 3:21, we find these words:
“One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened,”
Jesus often taught others to pray, but here we find Him praying. This is not the first time that Jesus prayed. He prayed often. Notice that when He prayed, the heavens opened. Verse 22 reads, “ and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on Him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, ‘You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.’” God was pleased with His Son’s prayer and He is pleased when we pray. Never let a day go by without praying. Pray often, and know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God is never too busy to answer.
