Today’s devotion raises a very significant question that we all must ask ourselves. The question is “What is your purpose in life?” I believe with all my heart that all of us ought to have some plans and purposes for our lives. I would argue strongly that far too many people in our world have no purpose or have the wrong purpose. They live their lives as if life has no meaning. On the other hand, there are those who place all their energy toward making money or having an abundance of material things. Life is far greater than that. Please do not misunderstand. Material goods have their place, but remember we brought nothing into this world and will take nothing with us when we leave. Today’s scripture is found in Philippians 3:10.

“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with Him, sharing in His death,”

In this deep and moving passage, Paul clearly states that his primary focus in life is to experience the mighty power of God. Paul wants to suffer with Him and share in His death. He is clear, that although he has grown, he has not reached perfection. He is pressing toward the prize of the high calling in Jesus. Paul is deeply committed to live for Christ that comes from his personal experience. Christ changed his life on the Road to the Damascus. His life has never been the same and he continued to press toward the mark. That ought to be our purpose to keep on striving to be like Christ and to live each day that God will get the glory out of our lives. When you discover the plans and purposes for your life, life becomes much more meaningful.
