I always try to be transparent as I write these devotions. Because I believe that you cannot help anybody by trying to be a “super saint”, I try to be as honest and vulnerable as possible. Therefore, I confess that there are times when I have felt alone. Oh, I do have faith and trust in God, but there have been moments when I wondered where God was. However, I have also said on many occasions that if you have not felt this way, just keep on living. The blessing is that we are never alone, even if we might feel that God has abandoned us. It is not based upon our feelings, but based on the reality that God is always there! We are assured that He will never leave or forsake us. Our scriptural lesson is found in Psalm 139:7 and reads:

“I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!”

This passage reveals that God is with us. We go nowhere that the Lord is not present. The psalmist clearly states that God’s love and presence is always there. Even if he made his way into heaven or hell, the Lord is there with him. At times, we might feel that this is hell on earth because of our pain and heartache. However, praise God for He is always there. The psalmist believes that God’s control even extends to the darkest place: hell itself. The psalmist praises God knowing that darkness cannot hide the Lord’s presence from us. What a wonderful testimony! It is a marvelous blessing to know that God is always present. In our deepest and darkest times in our lives, He is there! Yes, even when we doubt His presence, it does not diminish the light of His love that shines brightly in our lives. Thank God today that we are never, never, never alone.
