It is such a blessing to belong to the family of God.  To be called His children is one of the highest privileges we could ever receive.  As His children, we are heirs to God’s glory.  That should cause someone to shout as you read this devotion.  As heirs of God, we are blessed with mercy, grace, peace, and joy: all of the attributes of God.  No wonder we can sing, “My Father is rich in houses and lands, He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!”  All we need as God’s children is in the hands of our heavenly Father.  Read these profound words in Romans 8:17:

“And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.”

Throughout this moving chapter, we find the truth that indicates the Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, and we are children of God.  We have the confirmation of the divine spirit to verify and to solidify our being part of the royal family.  The quality of the experience as God’s children provides us the greatest of all privileges in knowing we are heirs and joint heirs with Christ.  Paul wrote we have this inheritance that cannot be measured with earthly goods, but rather as His children, we may be glorified with Him.  This comes with our willingness to suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him. As we claim this inheritance we must be willing to suffer for the sake of Christ, but the benefits far exceed the suffering.  Thanks be unto God today we are heirs of God’s glory.  May this assurance bless you today, and may you walk as a child of God and experience the joy that comes with being His heirs.
