It is essential that we, as a people of God, walk in the light of God.  We know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that once we walked in darkness; but now we have seen a great light. The light of the Lord illuminates our lives.  We can never return to darkness, for He has come to give us light and eternal life.  Walking in the light is more than simply choosing right from wrong, but it is choosing to incorporate God’s Words into our lives as an expression of our relationship with God. In 1 John 1:7, we find these words:

“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”

The richest fellowship in life is fellowship with God.  If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and He will forgive us of all of our iniquities (1 John 1:9-10).  Light comes from the love that flows from God in our lives.  Light also represents our fellowship and relationship with one another.  Light brings us to the knowledge that we have been forgiven of our sins. Those of us who trust in Christ have been forgiven of sins that we are not even aware of!  Thanks be unto God  that we have confessed our sins to Christ and He has forgiven us. We now walk in the light, which is the fellowship and communion of His Holy Spirit.
