Walking Alone

There are times when we find ourselves isolated and feeling all alone. This may be especially true whenever we endeavor to serve God’s people. But we have to find strength in knowing that when we face those moments, God is with us — we never walk alone. In Exodus 18:14, we find these words:

“When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he asked, ‘What are you really accomplishing here? Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?’”

Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, asked Moses why he alone was burdened with what he was trying to do for the people. Moses explained that the people came to him to ask about God, and he felt that he must endure this journey by himself. Jethro advised Moses that neither he nor the people would be able to carry this task alone, but that it was God who would provide him with counsel and strength. What wonderful advice Moses received! We can do nothing by ourselves, for we do not have the strength or the capacity. However, our God is more than enough. We never walk alone. He is always with us, all we have to do is call on Him.
