Walk In The Light Of His Presence
For those who have been reading these daily devotions for a while, you know the many times I have acknowledged that I cannot sing. Yet, as I write today’s devotion, I remember a song we sang in church many years ago, “Walk in the light, beautiful light, Jesus the light of the world.” Even though I cannot carry a tune, those words speak volumes to my heart. Something about walking in the light of His presence gives us joy, peace and fulfillment. When you walk in His presence, His hand of mercy covers you. As this year unfolds, walk in His presence every day. Do not walk in darkness, but in the marvelous light. His light will guide you, lead you and you will never be alone! The scripture lesson for this devotion is found in Psalm 89:15 and reads in this manner:
“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.”
In this deep and moving passage of scripture, we see how the people who are blessed as they walk in the light of His presence. Throughout this psalm, the psalmist writes about the greatness of the Lord. He speaks of the Lord’s strong hand and the grace and mercy of God that is with His people. In fact, the psalmist begins this psalm by praising God, saying, “I will sing of the mercies of the lord forever. With my mouth I will make knowns my faithfulness to all generations.” The psalmist knows of the Lord’s beauty and his desire is to walk in the Lord’s presence. Prayerfully, your desire is also to walk in the light of His presence. This year, may you always walk in the beautiful light as your life reflects the glow of His presence.
