Walk by Faith
As we begin this year, notice that the first two the devotions, including this one, speak about putting our trust and faith in Him. This causes us to live by faith and not be concerned about that which we can’t see. Prayerfully, we have already made a commitment to walk with God this year. It is impossible for us to enjoy the beauty of life without having a deep and abiding relationship with God. Life’s pressures and problems can take the joy out of our lives. When we have faith in God, we have the joy of the Lord, which is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). This is a faith walk where we hope and depend on God. Prayerfully, we also have a frame of reference that allows us to look back over our lives to see how God has brought us through. This year will be no different. There are those who read horoscopes to see what lies ahead. That might be good for them, but I must admit I really don’t want to know too much about the future because I might not be able to handle it. But I do have the desire to put my trust in God knowing He knows the way. I’m confident to trust God and to walk by faith. In Hebrews 11:8, we find these words:
“It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.”
By faith God called Abraham, and he obeyed, even though he did not know where he was going. This is a familiar story that is worthwhile reading over and over again. The author of Hebrews writes about those who walked with God. The list of the many who followed God is not complete, for there are countless believers today who are walking by faith. Prayerfully, we will all be included.
