WAIT ON THE LORD
As I was preparing this devotion, I started to sing, “Wait on the Lord and be of good courage. He shall strengthen thy heart.” My soul got happy as I was singing, for here we are, Thursday, August 6th as I write this. We are still in the throes of the Coronavirus, yet, I believe with all my heart that this too shall pass. All we can do is wait on the Lord. We need to trust Him knowing that He will bring us through. It may be easy to sing or say, but in reality, it is often difficult to do. Waiting and waiting! No matter how long it takes to wait on Him. This devotion speaks of the importance of waiting on the Lord in Psalm 37:37.
“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”
The psalmist speaks from his heart of the importance of waiting on the Lord. He offers wisdom and godly advice and does not want anyone to fret because of evil doers. He knows that God will take care of them in His time. Be calm. Trust Him. Do good while you are waiting. God will deliver His people in the time of trouble. Do not behave in ungodly ways. Stop being angry! Do not lose your temper. This psalm is a good one to read in its entirety. Then, wait on the Lord.
