Victory Over Sin
Today’s devotion is a continuation of yesterday’s. We have victory over sin. Sin no longer reigns nor has the dominant power in our lives. It does not mean that we will not sin, but it does mean that we have victory over sin by the blood of Jesus. Those are shouting words! Sin may knock us down or even stop us for a while, but the Lord knows that sin has no victory over us. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life! (Romans 6:23) Let me add — no one should bring up our past sins. We have been given the victory over them and God has forgiven us! In Romans 3:23, we find these words:
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
The universal need is to have the grace of God in our lives. Paul said that we all have sinned and have come short of God’s glory. Paul speaks of our new standard of living and the need to be saved from sin. God has given us the victory, for we are saved by His grace, and not by our works. Another key word that we cannot overlook is the word “all.” We should never allow ourselves to get upset when others try to pull us down because of past sins because we “all” have sinned. Just know that we “all” have victory over our sins because of Jesus.
