USE YOUR TIME WISELY
In this time in which social media occupies all our time, there is a need for us to be still. I would argue strongly that too many of us spend time unwisely. Our days are consumed with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, leaving little time for quiet times with God. We waste so much time during the day and seem to have little time for prayer, devotion and sometimes our family. I am always amazed when I go to a restaurant and see family members individually engaged on their cellphone. Dinner used to be a time of bonding and sharing. Time passes quickly and we cannot regain the time we lost. The Word of God speaks of being still. Twenty-four hours in a day, yet little time is spent in quality time with God. Please don’t think I’m being self-righteous or judgmental, I may well be speaking to myself. I need to inventory how I spend my days and not waste another day without truly thanking the Lord and taking advantage of His blessings. In Job 37:1, we read these words:
“Pay attention to this, Job. Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!”
In this text, we find the writer speaking of the wondrous works of God. Job is called to stand still, be quiet, and see the beauty of God around him. He is to consider the majesty of God. When you get a chance read this entire chapter. Take advantage of the blessings that come when you pause and give God thanks for the beauty of each new day. Each morning there are new mercies to see and to thank God for.
