Use Your Talent

Many of us do not use the talents God has given us. I am a firm believer that if we do not use our talent, it will be taken away. There are so many needs in the church; however, there are only a few people meeting those needs. There are those in the pew who have singing voices, or administrative, financial, or technological skills that they are not using. There are also those who have the gift of prayer or hospitality or culinary skills, who are not serving God with their gift. The list of things the church needs could go on and on. If you have a gift today, don’t waste it. Use your talent to glorify God. In Matthew 25:28, we find these words:

“’Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.’”

Read this entire chapter when you get a chance. Perhaps you’ve read it before, but it is worth reading again. It speaks about those who used the different talents they had been given; yet the man who had been given one talent wasted his. Therefore, the Lord took his talent and gave it to the one who had ten talents. We also see in verse 21 the words we have heard so many times, “good and faithful servant.”  Prayerfully, we are good and faithful servants who use every talent God has given us. If we only have one talent, use it, and thank God for it.
