TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE

We were never meant to live alone. God created His people to connect with one another. In other words, two are better than one. God created people to help us; none of us can achieve anything by ourselves. This notion that some of us have of “I pulled myself up by my own bootstraps” is simply not true. Somebody somewhere helped each of us along this journey. If nothing else, I know that God is there. He also sends people who help us carry our burdens. Life’s trials and troubles tend to wear us down and it’s good to have someone there to help us along the way. Thank God today for the individuals that God places in our lives to help us! In Ecclesiastes 4:12, we find these words:

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple braided cord is not easily broken.”

The writer speaks about the advantages of companionship, saying that two people are better off than one because they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. Such practical examples of what it means to have a companion! To close this devotion, remember these words, “Two are better than one!”
