TOTAL FREEDOM
By the mercy and grace of Almighty God, we are free to live and be who God has called us to be. Whom God has set free is free indeed. We live without guilt shame and pain because of the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all of our sins. There are people who remind us of what we used to do but we cannot allow them to dampen our spirit. We know that God’s hand of mercy has given us complete freedom. It has broken the invisible chains that kept us in bondage. There is nothing like living in total freedom. Our Scripture reference for this devotion is found in Galatians 5:13:
“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.”
The servant of the Lord speaks to his brothers and sisters in Christ because they have just been freed. Paul reminds them to serve one another in love, not allowing their freedom to cause them to engage in sinful acts. He reminds them to use this new freedom to love their neighbor as themselves and to be kind to one another. The beginning of the chapter cautions us to not get tied up in the slavery to the law, but we are to live in the freedom of the spirit.
