Every now and then, we need to take time out and just wait on the Lord. Life’s troubles and trials wear us out when we do not have the capacity to handle life’s problems on our own. With all our trying and striving to handle life’s difficulties, we still fall short. Consequently, we need to just be still; rest awhile; regroup and take time out! Today’s devotion speaks clearly of this need and we read familiar words in Isaiah 40:31:
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
In this chapter, the Prophet Isaiah indicates that the Lord gives us power. He writes that even the youth will faint and be weary. Isaiah anticipates the Lord’s power and compares Israel’s weakness to the strength of God, giving hope to the nation. The prophet knows that the Lord is everlasting and does not grow faint or weary. We can draw upon His strength. Whatever we are going through, even as we face mounting problems in our nation, we can take time out and look to Him. Prayerfully, we will take time to move beyond our political divide and see the power of the Almighty God who can save our nation. I must confess that I do get weary when I see our nation so divided; however, the consolation is that I rest on His promise and that He created the world and this nation. This renews my hope.
