My office is filled with plaques and sayings. One that speaks to my heart every day is very small, yet, has powerful words. I try to read them every day. The words on this plaque say, “This too shall pass.” They serve as a constant reminder that whatever we are going through shall pass. Those words have helped me immensely, when I had trials and troubles on my personal journey. I am glad to know that it is just for a season. Trouble doesn’t last always. I found out for myself that nothing we go through lasts forever. I have shared it with others who have come into my office with heavy hearts. This saying is summed up in many words. Think of these words. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Or, “they that wait upon the Lord will be renewed in strength”. Countless words remind us that whatever we are going through shall surely pass. Psalm 23:4 speaks to this:

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

This excerpt from the Twenty-third Psalm is a clear indication of the confidence the psalmist has in trusting God. He has no doubt that he will be blessed with the Lord’s goodness and mercy that shall follow him all the days of his life. His soul will be restored, and the Lord will always be at his side. Many believers know this psalm by heart. Prayerfully, you have the psalmist’s confidence and know that God will bring you through, even as the enemy surrounds you. You will not be overcome. What confidence the psalmist has in the Lord! I pray we have that same confidence.
