THE UNTHINKABLE
There are times we have said that we would not do something, however, some of
these very things we have done. How many of us have vowed never to betray the
Lord? Yet, there are times when we failed to respond to His will. We have not
always taken the stand for Christ that we should. I hear Paul’s words, “I want to do
good, but evil is ever present.” How true that is with all of us. Jesus knows how we
will respond in a given situation, but His love is still there for us.
Today’s scripture comes from Mark 14:18:
“And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, ‘Verily I say unto you, One of you
which eateth with me shall betray me.’”
The Master is eating the Passover meal with His disciples, when He
states that there is a betrayer in the room. In the human mind, this is
unthinkable: Why would anyone so close to Jesus want to betray
Him? They ask, “Lord is it I?” Jesus, knowing who it was, said to Judas, “Go
quickly.” How would any of us respond if we knew that someone close to us would
betray us? The Master has unbelievable love for each of us. Neither you nor I will
ever betray the Lord willingly. I pray that we will all strive to be found faithful.
