We have often heard the saying that a tree is known by its fruit.  How true that is; consequently, we must bear good fruit that honors God.  The questions for us to consider are, “What kind of fruit are we bearing? Does our fruit symbolize that we are connected to the Vine? Are we always symbolizing holiness and righteousness?”   We have the awesome responsibility to bear good fruit.   This is not an option, but it is a requirement.  We need to remember that the Lord already knows the type of fruit we are bearing. In Luke 6:43, we find these words:

“A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.”

We see two opposite trees: one bearing good fruit and the other bearing fruit of little value.  If we have a good heart, we will bear good fruit.  With a good heart, we will speak kind words to others, words that will enrich their lives. When we produce abundant good fruit, then God is glorified (John 15:8).We should be like the tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth good fruit and honors the Lord.
