THE SPIRIT HELPS US IN WEAKNESS
Thanks be unto God that in our weakness, God’s Spirit gives us strength. At times, we are weak and worried. However, during these difficult times we are assured that He will bless us by His Divine Spirit. It is a blessing to know that in our weakness, He is our strength. In our helplessness, He is our help. In our burdens, He is our burden bearer. In our sorrow, He is our joy. The Spirit comforts and guides us along the way. Perhaps, you are feeling weak now. Know that His Spirit is available to you. If not, know there are troubles that can weaken us and drop us to our knees. In these times, He is there. When the enemy comes and we are weak and alone, God’s Spirit is there to meet every foe. Romans 8:26 is our text today.
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”
Paul speaks about how the Spirit helps us in our weakness. He declares that the Spirit is a helper and Paul is aware that we can be confident in our weakness. We can turn to God in prayer and His Spirit gives us strength. Even when we cannot find the words, and all we do is groan inside, the Spirit interprets that and assures us that God hears and answers our prayer. The Spirit intercedes according to God’s will. God understands our groanings for He knows what is in our heart. Paul believes the Spirit abides in every level of our existence. In our lonely hour, we can thank God that the Spirit is there to comfort us. When we are feeling that we are at rock bottom, the Spirit lifts us. When we are at wit’s end, the Spirit assures us that there is a way, a will and an end to our misery. Be strengthened in your hour of weakness, knowing that the Spirit is there to help.
