What a wonderful blessing it is to know that we are the children of God.  The knowledge that our Heavenly Father embraces us as His own children is truly amazing.  As His children, all of our needs are in His hands.  There is no want or need that He cannot supply. The mere fact that we are His children provides us comfort and security in times of distress and grief.  Far too often, when life’s problems come our way we forget we have a Heavenly Father who cares for us.  The Spirit bears witness of our relationship with Him.  This truth is found in Romans 8:16.  These deep and profound words read in this manner:

“For His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.”

Here, Paul, the servant of God, bears witness of our sonship. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind.  We have been set free by His power.  We have confirmation of the Divine Spirit to solidify our relationship.  When we call out to God, the Spirit bears witness that we are His children.  This intimate relationship with Him is so great and awesome that it takes us to another spiritual level.  As God’s children, we are heirs and joint heirs to His heavenly throne.  I pray that the knowledge of being His children will sustain us through the difficult days of our lives, and the force of the power through the Holy Spirit might guide us into all truth. May the love that flows from His heart to ours equip us to do His will and live a kingdom life.
