THE SPIRIT BEARS WITNESS

During one of the morning Church Without Walls services, I asked for someone who had not already prayed on the line that week to pray. It was an incredible experience. It was very cold that day. We talked about Acts of Kindness, such as bringing warm clothing or blankets to someone who was homeless and doing other deeds that give glory and honor to God. The Holy Spirit moved and touched the lives of those on the call and we were all on one accord. The Spirit bears witness to the truth. Like-mindedness comes from the power of the Holy Ghost. In Romans 8:16, we find these words:

“For His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.”

God communicates from His Spirit to our spirit that we are His children. His Spirit “bears witness,” meaning that it keeps communicating to us over and over that we belong to God’s family now that we are in Christ. He confirms to us that which is true. The Holy Spirit gives us power, and because of that we can do great things in His name. I am ending this devotion the same way we ended the Church Without Walls service: by asking the Lord to reign down on us – not to sprinkle or shower – but to drench and soak us in the Holy Spirit.
