THE SHEEP KNOW THE SHEPHERD

The Lord refers to Himself on more than one occasion as the Shepherd. He is the Good Shepherd and cares for all His sheep. When one goes astray, He goes after that one. All the sheep are important to Him. It is important that sheep know the Shepherd’s voice. We know that when He calls, the sheep will follow. It is also important that we know that we are not the Shepherd, but the sheep. There is a vast difference between the shepherd and the sheep. Thanks be unto God that His sheep are able to follow the Shepherd. The scripture reference for today is found in John 10:27 and reads.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

In this passage, we see that the sheep know His voice and they follow Him. The relationship between Shepherd and sheep allows the sheep to feel the love given to them. The Shepherd says, “I give them eternal life and they will never perish and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.” What a wonderful blessing to know that we are never out of the Shepherd’s hand. He guides us all the way; taking us to green pastures. Take a moment today to thank the Shepherd of all shepherds, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
