As I was writing this devotion, I found myself thinking about life. I recognize, now more than ever, that the quality of life is found in God. This year, so many things have been taken away: not being able to take part in the many normal routines of life; family gatherings; social events; dining out and dressing up. All the things we valued somehow were put on hold. But the one thing that stands out is our relationship with God. That has been our sustaining power. Our lives have maintained quality because of our relationship with God. Our life is not measured by things and events, but rather by our deep and intimate relationship with Him. We have come to enjoy the beauty of a new day because of our awareness of God’s blessings. Despite all that has happened, we know that the joy of the Lord is our strength. We have been able to still laugh and love, because although things have changed, God has remained the same. Life is still good because God is good. To awaken each morning and know the blessing of a new day is an indication that you realize the greatness of God. Morning-by-morning new mercies are ours to see. We still have breath and a life well lived. Our scripture reference for today is found in Ecclesiastes 12:13.

“That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.”

In this passage, we see praises unto God. The writer declares that the quality of life is found in fearing God and keeping His commandments. That is to say, we give God reverence, praise, and thanks. Walk in His way and His will and your life will be blessed, and God will get the glory. God will judge us in all we do: whether good or bad. We must give an account of our deeds. The only true and lasting greatness is found in God and God alone. If you really want to live a wholesome and meaningful life, it will be in God. Do not let this year pass without you taking advantage of discovering the true quality of life that is found in our God.
