THE PRESENCE OF GOD

There is something powerful about being in the presence of the Lord. When we are in His presence, we are surrounded by holiness. We are called to worship and acknowledge God with reverence, respect, and humility so that the world will know that He is our great God. In today’s devotion, we see how one was preaching in the wilderness about making ready for the presence of the Lord. In Luke 3:4, we find words:

“He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for Him!”

John, the humble servant of the Lord, was preaching of the Lord’s
coming, John the Baptist makes it clear that preparation is needed to receive the Lord. In fact, what Luke writes is recorded in Isaiah 40:3-5, “Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “‘Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The Lord has spoken!’” Glory, glory to His name! The Old Testament and the New Testament join in heralding the Lord’s coming. A great inheritance shall be given unto God’s people. Oh, to be in the presence of the Lord where joy abounds! May we all be strengthened today with the presence of God. Let us declare to all whom we meet that God brings to this world peace, joy, redemption, salvation, grace, love, and mercy. May we spread the good news as John the Baptist did.
