Thanks be unto God for the power of wisdom. This is what we need because it will guide our every step. It will give us discernment and will allow us to walk humbly with God. As we follow God, wisdom will grant us the ability to think before we speak, and to know the difference between right and wrong. Wisdom is a gift from God. Of all the things we seek to strive for in this world, we should strive for wisdom. We are grateful for knowledge, but you can be well learned with all kinds of degrees and still do foolish things because of the lack of wisdom.  In Mark 4:24, we find these words:

Then he added, ‘Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given —and you will receive even more. 

Jesus is speaking about wisdom. In verse 23, He says, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”  In this chapter, Jesus speaks to the masses, telling them the parable of a lamp, asking if they would light it, then place it under either a basket or a bed, expecting it to shine.   He tells them it is not the duty of the lamp to hear and understand, explaining that a lamp should be placed on a stand where its’ light will shine.  He told them to pay close attention to what they hear, telling them that they needed the power of wisdom to follow the words of the Lord. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, we each have the power of wisdom so that we are also following the words of the Lord. Give God thanks for the power of wisdom!
