As believers, we must always follow the Lord’s instructions. The Lord instructs us to love the Lord with all our hearts, soul, and mind. We cannot serve two masters, for we shall love the one and hate the other. God must always be in the center of our lives. Today’s devotion speaks of the Lord’s instructions as found in I John 2:15.

“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.”

In this moving passage, John implores the people of God not to love the world. Loving the world means that you give your allegiance to the world and you do not have the love of the Father in you. We are called to love God alone. I have said previously, we should love God even more than we love our parents, children, spouses, and siblings. That does not mean that we do not love them, but that we love the giver of the gift more than the gift. We love God first, because he gave us the gift. We cannot attach ourselves to world’s things, as important as they are. Remember we brought nothing into this world and will take nothing when we leave. Our love for God must always be supreme. Prayerfully, you love the Lord with all your being.
