THE LORD WILL RESCUE US

Yesterday’s devotion focused on handling bad news. Today’s devotion further assures us that when bad things happen, the Lord will rescue us. The Lord will come to our aid regardless of the trials and troubles that come. We serve a merciful God who is always ready to throw out the lifeline and to rescue us. I know that to be true and I know that I am not alone. When all hope looks lost, God steps in and saves us from despair. Look back over your life and see the many times He has rescued you. You will testify that He is faithful. When you put your faith and trust in Him, He will surely come to your aid. The scriptural lesson for this devotion is found in II Timothy 4:18 and reads:

“Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.”

In this passage, Paul writes with full assurance that the Lord will come to His rescue from every evil. Paul was not spared hardships. Paul knew about suffering and pain and was confident that the Lord would stand by Him and strengthen him in every situation. As he thought of this, he broke forth in praise “To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” He praised God knowing that his enemies would not have the last word. Paul knew that he was not alone and that God was on his side. What a wonderful blessing! Paul could trust God no matter what he faced. He would be delivered from every evil work. What confidence! What strength! May you have that same confidence knowing that the Lord will rescue you.
