Sometimes we try to fight our battles, only to painfully discover that we cannot win them on our own.  No matter how strong we think we are, each time we try to face the enemy, we end up retreating.  But there is one thing I know for sure — as long as we walk in the will of God, when the enemy comes against us, we do not have to fear, for God will be with us and will fight for us.  We have evidence of this in today’s scripture lesson. In Exodus 14:14, we find these words:

“The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” 

The Israelites were fleeing from Egypt and Pharaoh’s troops were right behind them. Moses told them not to worry or panic because the Lord would fight for them.  God did just what He said He would do, because Pharaoh’s entire army drowned in the Red Sea!  Not only did God give the Israelites the victory that day, but, because they trusted in Him, He ultimately led them to the Promised Land.  When we come up against enemies, the Lord will fight for us as well. All we have to do is have faith, be still, and let the Lord fight our battles.
