THE LORD IS THE JUDGE
Today’s devotion is one that all of us should take notice, for there are times we all forget who the judge really is. I would argue strongly that many of us spend time judging, criticizing, and putting others down. But God is the only righteous judge. Thank God that He does not judge us the way that we judge ourselves! He judges us with love and tender mercy, and He pardons us when we need His grace. None of us can judge anyone else because we all have our own sin. In 1 Corinthians 4:5 we find these words:
“So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.”
Paul writes to the people of God. He tells them that he knows he has been judged by others, but that has not swayed his relationship with God. He is confident when he says that no one has been given the right to judge anyone, because everything that we have is from God. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, we will pay attention to these words, and we will not judge others; we will remember that the Lord is the only one who can judge.
