THE LORD IS OUR HOPE
On this second day of 2023, we, the people of God, have to put our hope and trust in God. We do not know what the year may hold, but we can remain confident that our lives are in the Lord’s hands. His hands are strong and mighty, and there is no need to fear, no matter what comes our way. In the words of the hymn writer, we can say, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” Lean on Him. That should cause you to shout right now! In Psalm 71:5, we find these words:
“O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O Lord, from childhood.”
The psalmist is grateful that God has blessed him. Throughout this chapter, he makes it clear that he has every reason to put his hope and trust in the Lord. He acknowledges that even when his enemies came to destroy him, it was God that protected him. He will never let go of God’s saving hand. When you get a chance, read this entire psalm. Prayerfully, you will take the time to reflect on God’s many blessings, as I have, and you will continue to put your hope and trust in Him.
