THE LORD IS HOLY
We serve a Holy God! Consequently, we need to come into His presence with reverence and acknowledgement of His holiness and His awesome power in our lives. Let me be transparent for a few moments, for I do not want to come across as self-righteous or judgmental. There are times when we joke that we go overboard. There is nothing wrong with a good laugh, but how we reference God is important. He requires our respect, love, sincerity and worship. That is true when we enter the house of God. Some things should not take place. This is also true for our homes, and our hearts. Whenever we call upon His name, we are to do so with deep and genuine adoration. He is to be revered above all other gods for there is none like Him. He is the Lord of lords and King of kings and deserves our praise. Isaiah 6:3 is our devotional reference today.
“They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”
In this moving text, we see the seraphim with six wings in verse 2. The occasion is the annual enthronement festival. Holiness is the essential quality of dignity. The whole earth overflows with His glory. The heavens declare His glory. As you read further in this chapter, Isaiah has this unbelievable experience, crying out “Woe is me.” He is standing in the very presence of God. May we stand in His presence and declare our own unrighteousness. Forgive us that we might be fit to dwell with Him.
