God is kind to us. In fact, God is more than kind to us. God is gracious and full of love and tender mercy. Therefore, we are to be kind to one another. Kindness is an attribute of God. This is not a mandate only in words, but in deeds as well.  God has called us to be kind to all people.  God will give us His kindness that can be shared with others, and He will give us the power to be moved by His Spirit to do His Will.  In Matthew 5:16,we find these words:

 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Jesus, the Master Teacher, is teaching His disciples to allow their good works to be seen by everyone so that they will give praises to God.  In other words, He tells them to be kind to everyone so that they will give praises to God for their kindness.  Kindness is not for our own gratification.  It is God who gets the glory.  So be kind. That is what God has called us to do.
