It is a marvelous blessing to not only read the Word of God, but to live it and apply it to our lives. The Word reveals the truth and opens the wonderful mysteries of God. No matter how many times you read it, there is always something new to discover. Understanding the Keys of the Kingdom requires continuous study of the Word. In Matthew 16:19, we find these words:

“’And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permiton earth will be permitted in heaven.’”

In verse 18, Jesus spoke to Peter, whose name means “rock” and indicated that upon this rock, He would build His church.  Jesus gave Peter the authority to act on His behalf. That authority Jesus describes is “The Keys of the Kingdom.” And with these keys came the awesome responsibility of telling the world about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Read this chapter when you get a chance. Prayerfully, you will have a better understanding about the Keys of the Kingdom, which are a gift from God for each of us.  The doors of the Kingdom will be opened for each of us who believes in the Gospel.  Prayerfully, we will all be in that number!
