There is a great deal of joy in watching your children grow. I say that not only regarding our biological children, but our spiritual children, as well. We are the children of God. I know that as adults, we do not consider ourselves children, but we are the children of our Heavenly Father. What joy it brings those who are responsible for preaching and teaching the word of God to the children of God, when growth appears. As pastor, I take great delight in watching the people of God grow in the word and serve God with passion and commitment. The scripture reference for this devotion speaks clearly of the joy that comes raising children. John the elder writes:

“I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.”

John refers to the followers of the Lord as children. His heart is overjoyed as he sees them carrying out the word of God. He has heard how the people of God have been faithful, doing the Lord’s work. His heart beams with joy as they serve the Lord with faithfulness. He wants them to continue to serve the Lord and the people in ways that honor God. He does not want them to lose their commitment and passion. Prayerfully today, you are a child of God, bringing great joy to God and to your spiritual leaders by your commitment to your faith in all that you do.
