The house of God is an awesome place: when we gather together for worship and praise, we are in His presence.  Every time we come into His house, and we open our hearts, we feel His magnificent power.  When our burdens are heavy, we have a wonderful sanctuary where we can feel His Divine Power.  In Genesis 28: 16 –17, we find these words:

“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!’  But he was also afraid and said, ‘What an awesome place this is!  It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!’”

Jacob stole his brother’s (Esau’s) blessings from their father Isaac. Esau was angry and therefore Jacob was a fugitive on the run. God came to him in a dream and promised to bless him and all of his descendants.  When he woke up, Jacob realized that he had been in the presence of God. He was immediately transformed and began to worship. This is what happens when we come into His presence with open hearts — our lives are changed and we are made new. The next time you come to the house of God, bring with you all of your heavy burdens.  Prayerfully, you will feel His Divine Power, and you will discover what Jacob discovered — the house of God is an awesome place!
