THE GOOD SHEPHERD
I am glad that I know the Good Shepherd. I know I am not alone for the shepherd watches over His sheep, carrying over us all. As Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, I am simply the shepherd of this flock. At the same time, I am under the great and Good Shepherd. I am not pointing the people of God to myself, for I am weak and frail. However, the Shepherd whom I am under has all power. Although I am privileged to pastor people, I am not always good. God has entrusted me, and I pray that I do not forget that I am under His care like all in His flock. Even when we go astray and miss the mark, the Good Shepherd will rescue us. Be strengthened as you follow the Good Shepherd. In John 10:11 we read of our Good Shepherd.
“I am the Good Shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”
Jesus refers to Himself as the Good Shepherd, who cares for and loves His Sheep who finds abundant life through Him. He has come that they have life more abundantly. He recognizes that the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus says He is a door and anyone entering will be saved and find green pastures. There is no shepherd like this Shepherd. No one loves like this Shepherd. When one goes astray, He will leave the fold and go after that one. That could be you or I. Thank God that He never takes His eye off us.
