We owe God so much.  There are no words to express our gratitude for how God has saved us from the penalty of death.  We are totally inadequate to express how grateful we are for the amazing love of God and how He saved us from our sins.  It is truly a gift: an unbelievable and undeserved gift.  All of us are recipients of that gift because all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  If we say we have no sins, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us, so today, this day, we thank God for His gift.  Cast your eyes and heart upon Romans 6:23.  There you will find these deep and profound words that read in this manner:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Here Paul the servant of the Lord indicates that we have been given this wonderful gift that has set us free from the penalty of sin, which is death.  Paul seldom uses eternal life but in Romans and Galatians, he speaks about the destiny of the believers in Christ.  Paul indicates we have been slaves to sin, but now have become slaves of God.  Because of that, the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.  What Paul is trying to say in effect is the believer belongs not to any law but to God Himself.  Paul also knew with all of our efforts we could not keep the law, but the Lord has freed us to the extent that we have been given eternal life.  It is my prayer today as you have focused upon Paul’s words you are able to express for yourself the gratitude of this amazing gift from God.  We have not earned or deserved it: it is a free gift. Praise God!
