THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
As believers, we should strive to live as children of God. It is essential that our lives reflect the love of God. We must be willing to put away fleshly things and to walk and live holy lives. This is not a choice but a mandate; consequently, we must be willing to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Galatians 5:22, we find these words:
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”
Paul speaks from personal experience because he had an encounter with God that completely changed his life. His old sinful nature had been in rebellion against God. Then the Spirit came and radically changed his life. He can now write about love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith. And in verse 23 he speaks of gentleness and self-control. When you get a chance, read this chapter. Prayerfully, we are allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us every day. When we do, we will produce the fruit of the spirit. If you find that you are not allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you, take the time to ask Him to take charge of your life right now. What blessings await you when you do!
