When we allow the Holy Spirit to rule and govern our lives, a change comes over us.  The things that used to cause us worry and distress no longer trouble us the way they did in the past.  The Holy Spirit transcends the flesh and produces fruit within us that helps to shape our Christian character.  In Galatians 5:22-23, we find these words:

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against these things!”

Paul’s letter indicates that when the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we are abundantly blessed with all of these virtues, which are the essential characteristics of all believers.  These virtues strengthen and unite us together as one body.  They transform not only our lives, but also the lives of others. When we live our lives with good morals and motives, intent on doing good things for others, we demonstrate the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, which consequently draws others to Christ.
