THE COMFORT OF GOD
God is a God of all comfort. We all need that comfort from God in times of grief, sickness, trials, and troubles. He comforts us during the most difficult times of our lives. We thank God for the countless people who offer us comfort during those difficult days. However, nothing compares to the comfort, strength, hope, and healing that God brings. Even when we sin, and others will not forgive us, God is there to forgive our sins and comfort us. We can continue in our Christian journey. Matthew 5:4 is our scriptural lesson for today.
“God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
The Master is delivering the Sermon on the Mount. He teaches them the Beatitudes. God blesses the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. God blessed those who mourn, for they will be comforted and strengthen them by covering them with His grace and mercy. The Master knows the pain of grief and is there to wipe away their tears and mend their broken hearts. We need God in times of grief. Grief is not a sign of weakness or lack of faith. It is a symbol of love. As we grieve, we need God’s comforting hand. I know that weeping might endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Thank God today for His comforting hand. What a blessing it is to know that we serve a God of all comfort!
