Once again, as I write this devotion, I want to be as open, honest, and transparent as possible because none of us are above temptation. All of us have weak spots in our lives. All of us can give way to temptation, which is why we should never judge anyone. There are many temptations in this world, such as being tempted to misstate the information we enter on our income tax returns or being tempted to take what does not belong to us. None of us are so strong that we cannot be tempted. In Hebrews 4:15, we find these words:

“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.”

The writer makes clear that although the High Priest had been tempted, He did not yield to the temptation. God understands our weaknesses. He knows that Satan will tempt us, on every hand. He also is aware that if he comes to the throne of God, he will receive God’s grace and mercy to help him when he is tempted. God provides us His grace, His strength, and His love so that we can endure temptation. But we must lean and depend on Him. The flesh is weak — we cannot handle temptation by ourselves. God gives us the power to be victorious over temptation. So when temptation comes your way, rely on the Word of God, the power of God, the love of God, and the strength of God, and you will be victorious!
