TALK TO YOURSELF
The title of this message may sound strange! I know there are those who look at someone talking to him or herself as someone who has totally lost it. At times, however, we need to simply talk and encourage ourselves in the Lord. When no one else encourages us, we can talk to ourselves. Not talk about ourselves, but talk to Him who knows us to find the encouragement and strength we need to continue. I don’t know about you, but at times in my life, I have had to talk to myself to remind myself as to who I am and to whom I belong to. We all belong to God and should never lose sight of this. The scripture reference is Isaiah 65:16.
“All who invoke a blessing or take an oath will do so by the God of truth. For I will put aside my anger and forget the evil of earlier days.”
In this moving passage, the Prophet Isaiah takes an oath unto God. He puts anger aside and wants God to know from his heart what he stands in need of. Throughout this chapter, he is transparent about his situation. God is speaking to Him, and he is speaking to God. The Lord makes His sovereign power clear. Isaiah is able to stand in the presence of God and look at himself. God has promised to grant blessings to him, saying, “I will answer before they call me.” While they are talking about their need, He has already answered their prayers. While we are talking to God, God is talking back to us. Never think that you are alone. Thanks be unto God today who hears us when we speak to Him.
