On more than one occasion, I have heard these words, “If you see something, say something.” Perhaps, these words are said when we see racism, violence or anything that marks some form of hatred. From another perspective, I believe that for those of us who have seen the power of God at work ought to say something. In saying something, we take a stand for God. We need to speak out against that which is ungodly and stand on the Lord’s side. We need to be living witnesses that we are on the Lord’s side. We cannot be timid about being bold for the Lord. He deserves our allegiance for all He has done for us. I pose this question: whose side are you on? Prayerfully you are on the Lord’s side. In addition, are you willing to raise your voice in support of Him? In John 17:14, we read our scripture reference today:

“I have given them Your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.”

John, the gospel writer indicates that the Word has been given. We are no longer in the world even as The Master is not in the world. However, He calls upon us to be a light to the world. We know that there is a penalty in standing up for the Lord. He paid the price with His life. We can no longer give excuses for doing some of the things we do. He has given us a way out. He prayed for us. We have the power to live in His name. It requires faith, discipline and obedience. When we say we are Christians, we are saying we are Christ-like. We do not have to rely on wearing a button or dress in a special way. Just be who we are: strong believers in the Lord.
