Sweet, Kind Words
We don’t always speak sweet, kind words to each other. Unfortunately, some of the words we use are vulgar, degrading, insensitive, harsh, and cold. Some of us have heard words that caused our hearts to ache, and likewise, some of us have said words to others that were hurtful. But we must learn to let the words that flow from our lips give God glory and edify God’s people. Even when we give criticism, it should be constructive rather than destructive, and the words should be kind and sweet. In Proverbs 16:24, we find these words:
“Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”
The writer knows full well that kind speech and pleasant words were the characteristic of those who were wise. He recognized these are the types of words that flow from the lips of those who have discovered the beauty of life. Today may we live bountifully and may we discover the beauty of life by the words that we use, because they are sweet, kind words.
