STOP COMPLAINING!
This devotion speaks to the heart of all God’s people, including myself.. It seems as though we never run out of complaints: about the weather, about how bad life is, etc. We even find ourselves arguing with one another. The songwriter says, “My good days outweigh my bad days, so I won’t complain. God has been good to me!” That should be melted into our hearts; then, we would have nothing to complain about. God is good, no matter what circumstance we find ourselves. Instead of complaining, we should give God thanks. Instead of looking at how dark and dismal life may be, we should look at the blessings God has given us. We should open our minds, hearts, and eyes so that we can see the beauty of God’s blessings, all around us. But we must protect ourselves from the negativity that is in the world. I have said on more than one occasion, “Stay away from negative people because they will pollute your life.” We should surround ourselves, instead, with people who experience the blessings from God and express it by giving God thanks, instead of complaining. In Philippians 2:14, we find these words:
“Do everything without complaining and arguing.”
Paul writes about having the attitude of Christ. He wants the people to be humble and to acknowledge God with a positive attitude. Paul emphasizes the need to live like Christ, saying, “Hold firmly to the word of life; then on the day of Christ’s return … I will rejoice” even in the midst trouble. It is my prayer today that we are all allowing our lives to shine brightly for Christ. We should strive to become worshippers who spend time praising and thanking God. And we must learn to stop complaining!
