Stay Focused

It’s January 2nd; the festivities, parades, and celebrations that mark the beginning of a new year are over. The floats have been put away, the band has stopped playing, and the parties are over. Prayerfully, our heads are clear and we can focus on the things that matter. We should be able to clearly see the need to keep God in our lives each and every day. We should not allow any distractions or interruptions to take our eyes off the Lord; we should resolve in 2024 to stay focused on the Lord no matter what. In other words, our minds should be made up and we should be willing to go all the way and be committed to follow Him. We know that the race is not given to the swift but to those who endure to the end. In Philippians 1:20, we find these words:

“For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.”

Paul is bold because he knows that he is not alone. He is committed to stay focused so that Christ will get the glory out of his life. In verse 21 he writes: “For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.”   What a wonderful testimony! It is my prayer today that this is also our testimony, and we have committed ourselves to Him, not just for this year, but for the rest of our lives.
